Dora photos!

Introducing Dora!

Grab your backpack and lets GO, says Dora, the little explorer amongst the North Carolina Four! When she and her sisters Fiona and Beatrix and her brother Finn were saved from a North Carolina gassing shelter just 15 minutes before their expiration date, she was the first one to toddle up to her rescuer, ears pricked, tail wagging, all three and a half pounds of her wiggling from head to toe. Dora is the first puppy out of the crate in the morning and the last one in the crate in the evening. She is the first to try anything new and approaches life with a happy, upbeat, I'm-game-for-anything attitude.

Dora and her siblings may (or may not be) German Shepherd/Belgian Tervuren mixes, and as such, her prospective parents should be prepared for her to grow anywhere from 40 to 75 lbs as an adult. Right now, Dora & Co. are still young enough to require three square meals a day, and potty breaks every three hours at least. They are estimated to be about nine weeks old. At their tender age, they need lots of love, attention, and socialization and as they grow, they will need lots of exercise and mental stimulation to keep them from entertaining themselves with your shoes, furniture, and other precious belongings. But if this sounds like just the kind of long term relationship you've been looking for (think 13-16 years), please contact Mabel's Place at mabelsplace@gmail.com for information about applying for Dora- but don't wait, these babies won't be available for long! An application and home visit is required and she will be spayed and UTD on vaccines prior to adoption. Fiona is being fostered in Charleston, SC.

Introducing Fiona!

Mirror mirror, on the wall, whose the fairest of them all? Why, Fiona of course- at least, she seems to think so! Fiona has beautiful silver sable markings and definitely thinks she's the cat's pajamas. She bounds around the like the rest of her puppy compatriots, but something in her bearing just shouts out "I'm gorgeous, and I know it!" Saved with her sisters Beatrix and Dora and her brother Finn 15 minutes before certain death at a North Carolina gassing shelter, Fiona has made her way down to the Lowcountry and is growing fairer by the day. Fiona is no delicate flower; she playfully takes part in puppy wargames such as ambush-the-flip-flop, tug 'o war, and butcher the stuffie carcass. But at the end of the day, Fiona is a lover, not a fighter, and just wants a loving pair of arms to hug her as she deserves.

Introducing Beatrix!

What are little girls like Beatrix made of? Sugar and spice, and everything nice of course! Beatrix brings happiness everywhere her little paws take her, and always has a gentle kiss or nuzzle at the ready. Saved with her sisters Fiona and Dora and her brother Finn 15 minutes before certain death at a North Carolina gassing shelter, Beatrix has made her way down to the Lowcountry and is getting sweeter (and more plump) by the day. She playfully takes part in puppy wargames such as ambush-the-flip-flop, tug 'o war, and butcher the stuffie carcass. But Beatrix is just as content to cuddle and burrow under the covers with you as she is to attack your feet.

Introducing Finn!

Meet Finn, a mischievous little imp disguised in six pounds of adorable puppy clothing! Though the smallest of the bunch, you would never know it by listening to him- he has a BIG personality and a loud voice to match! Thoroughly outgoing with his sisters and absolutely enamored with adult dogs no matter their size, Finn is still a teeny bit shy of people. He was saved with his sisters Fiona, Beatrix, and Dora 15 minutes before certain death at a North Carolina gassing shelter, and now has made his way down to the Lowcountry and is growing bigger and braver by the day. If you catch him, he'll stick around, but like most boys, he'd rather be playing in the mud and digging up bugs than being coddled and fussed over. Finn loves rollin' with his homies, which include the resident pit bull and a French Bulldog foster, and as he was the runt of the litter, he LOVES food!
